.. We Finally did it!..

We finally were able to dress up as Jack & Sally from 

The Nightmare Before Christmas! We have always planned to dress up as a family for halloween 

and for some reason it never works out. We found the perfect Jack Skellington costume for frida and 

I was sally. Even though it didn't turn out as elaborate as we wanted to, we did it!!!

Simply Meant To Be...

Hopefully this is the first of many, as we have many ideas brewing in our heads. 

Looking forward to bring our ideas to life in the coming years.

.. December 12, Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe ..

"Am I not here, me that I am your mother"

December 12, Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, is one of the most important and spectacular days that is celebrated in Mexico & amongst believers around the world. On this day people from all parts of Mexico make their way to the Basilica in the Mexico city, where they will celebrate Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. 

This day is a national fiesta, which is celebrated with traditional music, folkloric dances and songs dedicated to the Virgin. Amongst the thousands of bouquets of flowers that pilgrims bring in honor of the Virgin De Guadalupe, you can feel the love and thankfulness that each person is feeling. 

This day is of great importance to Mexicans and believers around the world. It is a day filled with gratefulness, love, compassion and it is hard to put into words but honestly when you are celebrating you are filled with peace within yourself.

This is a very special day for us, it is of custom to dress little ones in traditional clothing and bring either flowers or a small offering to the church to present our Virgencita as a way of thanking her. 

Since Frida was born we have been showing her this beautiful tradition, she now 5 & loves this celebration. 

She gets to see first hand her culture, her faith, and her love for "Mama Lupita" as she refers to the Virgin. It is an aspect of her culture she gets to partake in, choose what offering we will be taking and simply learn more about her Mexican roots. 

Every year we look forward to December 12 to honor our Virgencita, we gather as a family filled with faith, thankfulness and love in our hearts to not only show our gratitude but to grow our faith in our family, in our home and in our hearts.

.. Dia De los Muertos: A day of remembrance..

Dia De Los Muertos also known as Day Of The Dead, is a Mexican tradition where families create altars in remembrance of loved ones that are no longer with us. Altars that are decorated with favorites items, foods and the loved one(s) picture.

Now a mom, This is one tradition that I absolutely love teaching Frida about, her curiosity and intrigue about it is something I love to see. When we are getting ready to build our altar, I tell her stories about loved ones she sadly did not meet but knows of due to this beautiful custom, she loves to help in getting the items we will be placing on the altar. 

I remember when Frida first asked my about Why we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos? 

It caught me off guard and honestly I was a little confused, how do I explain DEATH to her, thats even though it is a natural part of life, it is still something we tend to shy away from the subject.
Before I could answer her she told me " Mommy, we celebrate Dia De Los Muertos to remember our family that we love so much!" 

I answered her "Yes, we love our Family and even though they are no longer with us, we celebrate our love for them."

Every year as soon as we start getting ready to create our altar, Frida loves to help in getting things prepared, we go buy favorite food items, flowers and other things we will place in the altar. 

While we create the altar we play music each one of our loved ones enjoyed listening to, share stories of our loved ones and creating new memories with each other. 

" The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living."

Dia de los Muertos is special to myself and has become special to Frida, we will keep setting up our altar every October 31-Nov.2. We will remember our loved ones with much love and understand that even though there presence is no longer with us their love will carry on.

" When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure."

And just like that our family grew by one....

Maverick, Our 1st fur baby!

 We are proud owners of a 4 year old bully breed pup. Maverick is an absolute loving, caring,  protective and cuddle loving pup. He does not measure his size nor his weight (he weighs roughly 100 lbs!); he just knows that he is our family and he loves us!

Well, My family and I absolutely love animals. Frida has repeatedly told us that she wants to own a house where she will have all types of animals and she will take care of them if they get sick. She said "I will teach them to be a family, love each other and be happy." My heart fills with joy overtime she tells me this and I hope her dream of owning this house comes true. 

If it was up to her our current apartment would be filled with doggies, big ones, little ones, you name it she wants all of the doggies. 

Frida convinced my husband real quick, which is no surprise because if it were up to him we would have a dog filled with dogs as well. Don't get me wrong I would love to have all the doggies as well but not in an apartment, especially a NYC sized apartment. I caved in and next thing i know we were on our way to adopt a puppy, not any puppy but a Chihuahua puppy! 

We already had her name picked out and everything! We were all excited to bring Miley home with us and shower her with love!

I was a little nervous with the size difference between Miley and Maverick but Maverick is such a loving pup himself the nervousness quickly faded away. Maverick was eager in meeting her and we slowly introduced them to each other and they been inseparable since day one. They take naps together, sleep on the same bed even though they each have their own and Maverick has taught Miley the Do's and Don'ts of the house. 

He is very protective of her when they go out for walks together, both are protective of their sister Frida and both shower each other with affection as well as us.

Get ready to cheer on your favorite racing car, Lighting McQueen this coming June 16th!

Coming back to theaters this June 16th, 2017 is the beloved Lighting McQueen and gang for an all new adventure. 

As a car loving family, we were very excited to have been invited to check out Cars 3 earlier this week. (No worries no spoilers in this post!) Not only did we love Cars & Cars 2 but Cars 3 is absolutely a new family favorite! The trailers gives some clue as to the new adventure Lighting McQueen and the rest of the Radiator Springs family will venture in but not all is given away. 

Legendary Lighting McQueen will need help from his friends back at home but will also get help form newcomer Cruz Ramirez, an eager young car technician who will not only help him but help herself in some of unexpected turn of events. 

Emotions will be all over the place in this new adventure as old meets new and you're surely leave the theatre loving a character (s) from the film! 

So shift these gears into high speed and make your way to watch Cars 3 on June 16th!

.. Tangled Before Ever After! ..

We all know and love princess Rapunzel, Tangled was a hit with not only the kids but as well as us parents. 

Well Rapunzel, the effervescent barefoot princess with the magical blonde hair is back in an all-new-Disney Channel original movie! It sure enough will steal not only your kids heart but yours as well. In this new original film Rapunzel postpones her wedding and with the help of her love Eugene, Pascal, Maximus and new friend Cassandra she will explore life beyond Corona walls.  

Bring  the exciting new adventure home on April 11th.

Rapunzel,is Back in An All-New Disney Channel Original Movie!  

To add an extra special flair to our Easter basket we decided to use the upcoming release of Disney's Tangled Before Ever After to inspire our basket decoration.

 Pascal (Rapunzel's best friend) was why we choose a green basket, we absolutely love his wittiness and his bond with Rapunzel. 

The Sun symbol that appears in the film was also inspiration to us not only due to the film but because of Spring and the sunny days to come! 

We wrapped green & white pipe cleaners around the handle not only once again for Pascal but for Maximus as well.

We loved the finished product!! The touch of Rapunzel is most certainly there!

We are ready for some Easter fun!

To RENT or BUY that is the question... Zipcar may just be the answer!

Living in Nyc is such an beautiful & thrilling experience. But when it comes to transportation you can almost grantee yourself a massive headache!! Why you ask?? 

Although there is plenty of public transportation with that same easiness that it is available, 95% of the time you're bound to run into some sort of delay or far more worst come to find out that the train you need to get home is no longer due service due to some type of construction, incident and/or some other issue. 

So there you stand stranded (well not really but you know what I mean) figuring how to get home, Do you take another train or 2 or 3 to reach your final destination? Which will now take about 3hrs which normally is about 40 mins or take a cab which will range anywhere form $20-$50 depending how far you're from your destination.. 

In the very back of you're head you're thinking "If I only owned a car, I wouldn't be stuck here trying to get home!!!" But the truth kicks in with full force, If you did own a car, you still have to deal with gas, traffic & the so ever stressful task of finding parking!

Taking in consideration the hassle of owning our car & the headaches that public transportation so kindly gives us my husband & I decided to get a membership to Zipcar.

What is Zipcar?
Zipcar is an alternative to your usual car rental, once you become a Zipcar member you can reserve a car for 1 hour or up to 7 days, Gas is on Zipcar so you never pay out of your own pockett unless there is an issue with the gas card that is provided but even then send a copy of your recipient and they will reimburse you the amount.
You can find  Zipcars almost all neighborhoods, cities and airports, they offer different rates & plans that accommodate what you are looking for plus you can change it once you are a member.


We have been members for Zipcar for the past 6 years now and have absolutely had an awesome experience! (Thats why we haven't bought a car yet, Lol) Zipcar has given us the option of getting a car only when we need it or when a spontaneous road trip pops up but thats why its so easy to fall in love because you can get wheels when you need it or just want to cruise around.

If you are debating weather to purchase a car take a look into Zipcar it really is as simple as Wheels when you want them.

.. Dia de los Muertos, Celebrate the cycle of life ..

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is celebrated in Mexico from November 1- 2. 

It is a celebration of the lives of the deceased in which we honor them with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life. It recognizes death as a natural part of life, it is a natural part of the life cycle. On the this day the dead are awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with their loved ones.

The most familiar symbol row Dia De Los Muertos is are Calaveras (Skulls, Sugar Skulls), it may appear everywhere during the holiday in candied sweets, parade masks, dolls, face painting & more. Calaveras present themselves often in bright colors or portrayed enjoying life.
Ofrendas are an essential part of the celebration (Ofrenda means offering in spainsh.) Also know as altares (altars), these ofrendas often contain a deceased ones favorite food, drink and sweets, sweet bread ( pan de muerto) and a toy if the altar is for a child as well. Pictures of saints, Virgen De Guadalupe, and a crucifix may also be placed on the altar, along with bright yellow & orange marigolds (an Aztec power of the dead.) Ofrendas are placed at home as well as in the cemeteries.

Ive always loved Dia De Los Muertos, its always filled my heart with happiness as well as a bit of sadness to celebrate my loved ones who are no loner here. It is bittersweet but I love to celebrate their life with as much joy as they once did.
This year I will be setting up my very own FIRST ofrenda! Ive always helped my mom with hers as well as my mom in law. But this year Ive decided to do my own with the help of my Frida, I love how she asks question regarding the calaveras, or what the sugar skulls are for?
This is part of her culture, a tradition that I wish she follows with years to come and grows to love as much as I do.

.. Disney always bringing the Magic! ..

Everyone needs a little magic in their life and Disney brings us closer to Magic every time! We were invited to a pre-release party at the Nintendo World New York for the newest Disney game, Disney Magical World 2 (Available on Nintendo 3DS as of October 14th). 

Disney Magical World 2 definitely gets two thumps up from us! Not only are there six different magical worlds to explore such as The Little Mermaid, Snow White's , Lilo & Stitch's, Alice in Wonderland, Winnie The Pooh and last but not least Frozen With Anna Elsa and the oh so lovable Olaf! In each of these worlds you'll be able to partake in fun magical adventures that simulate each of the characters "home".  There are more than one hundred characters throughout the game!! 

But by far one of my favorite parts is the Mickey's Magical dream parades within the game, why is one of my favorite things?! 

Because Jack Skellington is there!! My family & I are The Nightmare Before Christmas fans, so to see Jack in there made us cheer with joy! (Can Jack Skellington & the his halloween town gang, get their own game?? Lol)

The game has so many features on it from being able to live in the world of beloved Disney Characters, invite Disney Princesses to the Enchanted Ball, Customize your look with hundreds of Diney themed outfits and much more!

Disney's Magical World 2 most certainly be on our Holiday list this year! Not only on Frida's but also mine! Lol. This game will surely be a family favorite! 

Disney has surely brought that special magical touch with this game!

.. Hola Octubre!!! ..


October is by far one of our favorite months here at my house because it officially brings in the fall feel! Not only ado we love the weather but the holiday & traditions that we begin to celebrate in the months coming.

Join us as our over decorating (LOL) & celebrating for this magical time begins!!

.. Worlds Smallest Toys but such big fun!!! ..

Classics have made a come back these past few years, remake of tv shows, some of the fashion, music groups/singers, but one of my faves are certainly the toys!!! Now don't get me wrong toys from generation are cool but some of the old school toys are most definitely way cooler!!! 

Worlds smallest toys brings back some awesome classics but in mini version!!! Some of the classics are Rubik's Cube, Perplexus, Fisher Price Chatter Telephone, Doodle Top and more. These toys were cool in their original form but in mini version they freaking cool!!! Lol. 

As a parent I absolutely love these for their convenience, my daughter loves carry toys when we are out & about (& What i mean she loves to carry she usually stuffs them in my bag, lol) so worlds smallest toys makes that so much easier for both her & I. 

As we prepare for this upcoming holiday season definitely look into getting World's smallest toys, they're perfect as stocking stuffers or get the them all as collectibles or heck to play with while the kids are sleeping.

Can you peep all the Classics? 

Nickelodeon was such a big part of my childhood, so many memories with my siblings. Now I also have the opportunity to create memories with my little one because nickelodeon has such a wonderful selection for toddlers (preschoolers) that are equally fun as educational, that as a parent I appreciate very much.

So when I was invited to attend Nickelodeon's holiday Gift Guide I was so eager & excited as well as my little one was. 

This  years holiday gift guide preview included some of their most popular shows such as Shimmer & Shine, Paw Patrol, Blaze and the machines, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBoob Squarepants. So many options with toys, clothes, bedroom decor and even home appliances. It was so cool to see all the new merchandise that was soon to be launched, even cooler we got to ( well Frida tested more than I did, Lol) txt some out.

Nickelodeon is not only helping kids use their imagination but also providing new ways to incorporate physical activity in your kids playtime. As well as giving your child the wonderful chance to explore their individuality with some of their favorite characters!

Shimmer & Shine, Frida loves Shimmer & Shine! She wanted everything! Lol. Their new product line is absolute magic!

SpongeBob, already an icon! How Cute are the megablocks!

Paw Patrol, That Yoga Mat though (Pink+ Skye= Can I have one please! Lol) The Bedding was one of my faves for all of the characters!

TMNT!! A classic for us the parents now enjoyed by our littles! All of the home appliances are on Mommy's christmas  wish list!

.. Big Bang Fun!! ..

Do ever look up at the sky & marvel at how much beauty it contains? 

Starry nights are my favorite & when one comes to think about how it came about, you just can't help but be filled with amazement. If you and the kiddos have an opportunity to go to the movies this weekend I highly recommend you see Ice Age Collision Course.

On Friday we had the chance to catch a special screening of Ice age collision course & it is an absolute hit!!! 

If it wasn't enough to catch a special screening of the movie afterwards there was a very out of this world Q&A with Mister Neil deGrasseTyson!! Listening to how passionate Mr.Tyson is about astrophysics is absolutely wonderful, you can definitely  hear the love he has for science when he speaks about it. It was great to see Mr.Tyson himself but also to hear his voice over in the movie as Neil deBuck Weasel!! 

It is not Mr.Tyson's first voice over, but he doesn't do them more is because he ensures that the project has some science value to it. By far it was very interesting listening to Mr.Tyson answer questions science related but one of my favorite things he mentioned when asked regarding the school he attended was how it does not matter what school you do attend due to the fact that does not make or define you. but what defines you is YOU!!! Work hard towards your dreams and anything you set your heart to is possible. 

Once we were done with lunch we headed to American Museum of Natural History to check out their new exhibit Dinosaurs Among Us. We had a personal guide through out the exhibit which added some cool extra facts regarding the exhibit, as well as the cool new Titanosaur, the new fossil at the museum that is so big it needs it's own room to be showcased! (The name pretty much says it all) 

Make sure to check out Ice Age Collision Course and  plan a visit to AMNH (American Museum of Natural History) this summer break. Both are guaranteed to fill your day with learning and much fun!
